Since the musical's creation in the 1980s, Les Misérables, or Les Mis, has transformed from becoming a small unknown production produced in Paris, France to one of the most highly-awarded and fan favorite shows in the eyes of local and international audiences. Over the last century that this stunning show has been ongoing, the show has toured in 22 different languages, in 53 countries, and has been watched by over 130 million people worldwide.

In May, the musical’s run brings it to a new location in Charlotte, where Les Mis will be performed in Belk Theatre at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center on Saturday 24th May 2025. Belk Theatre at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center was made to be a landmark of the city as the greatest play venue of Charlotte, housing well-executed interior, from stage to seats, that is big enough to host a play of this level, while also having appropriate services that are contained within the theater.

The show is all about the tale of Jean Valjean, a convicted commoner distressingly wanting to start anew after he gets away from parole. His entire tale, presented through two emotional acts, are performed fully through song from the start to the end of the musical. The Broadway musical being lyricized from beginning to end is a storytelling tactic that this play has over other known West End plays, and is the chief cause why every moment and act doesn’t miss a beat in depicting each personal struggle in every word or note performed.

It's no wonder that due to this method, the play is also full of unforgettable song numbers. Interestingly, in the face of the collection of numbers that can be watched in the show, every role in Les Misérables is given a chance to shine, with each discrete ballad revealing a deeper sense of their character. Not one single person who has attended Les Mis can fail to recall Fantine’s “I Dreamed A Dream”, which carries with it a powerful longing and has been performed countlessly by acclaimed performers in modern cinema. “Bring Him Home” also emotionally moves viewers to tears all the time, revealing to us the very soul of Valjean's character in a single completely awe-inspiring song.

Les Misérables will only be showing in Belk Theatre at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, Charlotte for a limited time and on Saturday 24th May 2025; seats are presently available for purchase via our ticketing partner through the links that can be found on top of this page.
