Musical creator Lin-Manuel Miranda is telling the tale of Alexander Hamilton, former American Secretary of Treasury, through Hip-Hop and R&B music that has riveted audiences for nearly ten years. "I understand how ridiculous the elevator pitch for this show is," says Miranda. "It sounds improbable. And then once you start hearing about Hamilton's life story, it sort of makes sense". Alexander Hamilton’s story is a chaotic one, to say the least.
From starting the Federalist Papers to founding the American Coast Guard, and ending up meeting his demise at the hands of Vice President Aaron Burr. Hamilton deals with a number of key points in the Countries history.
By sharing this story, the show has gone on to win 11 Tony Awards, a Grammy Award, and the 2016 Pulitzer Prize!
Lin-Manuel Miranda not only wrote this masterpiece, but he also acted as Alexander Hamilton when the show first came to Broadway.
The acting ensemble of the Musical, despite taking on the roles of white historical figures, is composed of non-white actors.
